FRIENDS: Online Continuing Education

Child abuse and neglect is a serious problem in this country and can result in serious injury to children and child fatalities. We all have a role and a responsibility in preventing child maltreatment.

The FRIENDS National Resource Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) is working with other national, state and local programs to make a difference and prevent child maltreatment. The goals of prevention efforts are to reduce the risk factors leading to child maltreatment and to promote the protective factors that keep children safe. To build the capacity of organizations and individuals to prevent child maltreatment, FRIENDS develops knowledge, tools and strategies for effective intervention and support.    

The FRIENDS Online Learning Center offers accessible continuing education and professional development opportunities to anyone interested in improving their knowledge and skills. Courses may be taken at your own pace and at the times that are most convenient for you. You do not need to complete a course in a single session but can return to it whenever it best fits your schedule. 

The FRIENDS website, www.friendsnrc.org, has an extensive library of resources and a wealth of information on topics such as: collaboration, continuous quality improvement, evaluation, evidence-based practice, parent leadership, protective factors and maximizing resources.
